Just because you made the excellent X-Men 2 does not give you carte blanche to do a second reboot (rereboot?) of Battlestar Galatica before the exceptional (new) TV version is even cold in the ground without a fanboy lynchmob forming.

Now, in principle I'm not aversed to movies that contain explosions, action and attractive people in saucy underwear/shirtless (delete according to gender and sexuality of viewer), but something about them in Sherlock Holmes is unbelievably shit.

So Star Trek. Not at all bad, despite the LENS FLARE. Seemed to have the heart of Star Trek, with a touch of the pizzazz of Star Wars and some LENS FLARE. The science was, of course, the usual ST nonsense, and the scenes with Spock and Kirk aged 12ish were completely superfluous, as was all the Galactica stlye handheld cam and all the LENS FLARE. It was okay.

I'm not this guy, so I'm allowed to like chracters like Gambit and Venom. They did the former much better than the latter, but his accent was kinda all over the shop.

Otherwise, terrible SFX, but not bad in a fluffy kinda way. On a par with, or a smidge weaker than, X-Men 3.

Whilst genuinely I enjoyed it, after the phenomenal Casino Royal, QoS was something of a disappointment. I love the serious, intelligent, campless DC version of Bond, and Casino Royale was hands down film of 2006 for me. But QoS needed quite a lot less bang crash, and a lot more quiet character moments ( Read more... )

Both were great. Had an amazing weekend, and love my faction in a way that borders on the inappropriate. Weather was suck, but that was about it.
